5 Mobile Apps for Runners

There are tons of mobile apps designed to help runners track their progress and reach their goals. The New Year is a great time to start using some of these apps, and getting your routines on track. We decided to curate a collection of our favorite 5 mobile apps for runners. These apps will help you set clear goals, track your daily progress, and make recommendations based on your work.

  1. Runkeeper

A favorite among runners, Runkeeper allows you to track your running, cycling, hiking and other distance activities.  You can record your pace, distance, total exercise time, calories burned and other useful metrics. It comes with a variety of training plans, complete with reminders and gamified challenges.

  1. Strava

Strava is extremely popular within established running communities. It allows you to join clubs- which include message boards where real coaches will answer questions or engage in challenges. Strava is excellent for tracking your runs, with a sophisticated training log. This is great for triathlons, since you can see swims, rides and foot races in one place. It also lets you compare workouts along the same route to help you easily visualize your progress.

C25K is an app specifically for people who don’t already run. The app is designed to help self-professed “couch potatoes” train to run a 5K over an eight-week plan. The daily workouts alternate between running and walking to help you build strengths.

4. Fitso Running and Fitness Coach

Fitso is an app for experienced runners looking to lose (or maintain) their weight. The app uses the data collected from your workouts (pace, distance, duration, and calories burned) to suggest a diet tailored to your needs. They offers hundreds of healthy recipes, complete with calorie counts and a shopping list to make each meal.

Run Double is the perfect app for anyone who wants to Start a training plan for a 5K, 10K, or half marathon. It will track your distance, speed and location while you run.  If you run to music, it’ll briefly pause your track to speak your pace, time, and distance.
