Sole Sister has so many meanings to me. In my 20’s I loved swimming, biking, and running alone. I loved to go at my own pace and not worry about keeping up with or slowing down for someone else. My 30’s came along with motherhood and life changed. Challenges were different than my single days triathlon training and working night shift as a critical care nurse. Training waned a bit until I was encouraged by my Sole Sister, Lori. Lori formed a Moms In Motion Group which guided us through several races. Lori talked me into my first half marathon and even talked me into signing up for a half Ironman (though that never happened due to an injury). Even if I was completely wiped out from my job and being a mom I knew everyone would be waiting for me and I would feel much better just getting out the door. My Sole Sister has so much drive and determination you can’t help but catch it. I rode her tail through many of our life journeys including starting Inspired Endurance. She started My Mottoz Activewear and I followed suit with a different niche. We had the privilege of not only completing several races together but traveling to many race expos throughout the country. Even though we are not training and participating in races now she will always be my Sole Sister!
Here I am now in my 40’s with nearly 30 years as a swimmer, 25 years as a cyclist and 20 years as a runner. Liza is my new Sole Sister who encourages me to keep going even after a Rheumatoid Arthritis diagnosis. Life changes in so many fascinating ways but we will always remember and have our Sole Sisters.
